UAE home furnishing industry boosted by property boom

19 November 2007

Home furnishing industry within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is booming because of increased property investment, it has emerged.

With an estimated 100,000 people moving to Dubai every year after the continued development of new residential apartments, consumer demand for furnishing, interior decoration and gardening is fuelling the industry, reports Al Bawaba.

Home furnishing companies are reportedly set to battle for consumers at the Arabian Home Show in Dubai, which will give companies the chance to display their products to new homeowners.

Scheduled to take place in April 2008, the event will attract a wide consumer base from buy-to-let investors to families, said Daphne Cota, exhibition manager for the Arabian Home Show.

"There is a pressing demand for this type of exhibition in the UAE, especially during the current property boom," she told the news provider.

This year's Arabian Home Show and Bride Show Dubai together attracted over 64 companies from seven countries, according to the event's website.
